FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

DATES AND HOURS?

7th– 17th September 2023. Open Thursday – Sunday.

Tickets for this event are available in 30 minute time slots, starting from 6:00pm. The last session time is 9:00pm and the event will close at 10:00pm.

Please note that the last entry into the exhibition will be permitted up to 10 minutes after the final session time.

WHERE IS THE ENTRANCE?

The entrance to Electric Kingdom is via the Federation Square side of Birrarung Marr.

TICKET PRICING?

Electric Kingdom is a free event, but you will need to register for a ticket online. Please go here to register for your ticket.

Staff will be available at the entrance to help if you need to register for a ticket on the night. But we do encourage you to register here ahead of time to ensure you secure your preferred time slot.

DO I HAVE TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?

To attend the event, all visitors are required to register and book their tickets online. We highly recommend booking in advance, as each timed entry has a limited capacity, and we anticipate high demand for this event.

DO I NEED TO REGISTER CHILDREN?

Yes, please register all children, including infants in prams. You can use their guardian’s name if preferred.

WHAT IF I AM LATE AND MISS MY TIMESLOT?

We will make every effort to accommodate you in the next available timeslot on the same night. However, please note that this may not be possible if the event is already at full capacity. In such cases, there might be a waiting period.

WHAT IF IT’S RAINING?

Electric Kingdom will take place as planned, even in the event of rain or wind. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. However, if the weather conditions become unsafe, we may have to cancel the event. In such cases, we will aim to make the cancellation decision by 2pm on the day of the event and will send an email notification to any registered visitors. Stay updated with the latest information by checking our website and social media pages.

HOW SHOULD I DRESS FOR THE EVENT?

As this is an outdoor event, we kindly ask you to come prepared for the elements. Please wear suitable footwear and dress warmly. Bright colours and glittery outfits are always welcome.

HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD I ALLOW FOR THE EVENT?

The duration of your visit will vary depending on your pace. As a rough guideline, we recommend allocating approximately 45-60 minutes to fully immerse yourself and make the most of the experience.

SHOULD I ARRIVE IN ADVANCE OF MY TICKET TIME?

We recommend arriving no earlier than 15 minutes before the entrance time stated on your ticket. 

Please note that the last entry into the event will be permitted up to 10 minutes after the final advertised timeslot. The event will conclude 60 minutes after the final advertised timeslot.

IS THERE PARKING?

As the event is in the heart of the city we recommend you take public transport or ride-share, as parking will be at a premium on the event nights. 

WHERE IS THE NEAREST TRAM AND TRAIN STOP?

The nearest tram and train stop is at Flinders Street Station.

Make sure you plan your journey with Public Transport Victoria as road works may affect your journey.

WILL THERE BE BIKE PARKING?

There is limited bike parking at Birrarung Marr, with a public bike rack near the playground and ArtPlay.

WILL THERE BE FOOD AND DRINKS?

Although we don’t offer food and drink at this event, there is an abundance of iconic Melbourne restaurants close by. Visit What’s On to find out more.

CAN I BRING DRINKS?

No alcoholic drinks can be brought into the event.

CAN I BRING FOOD?

As this is a promenade event, we request that you refrain from bringing eskies or picnics.

ARE THERE RESTROOMS?

Yes, there will be several restrooms for visitors.

ARE STROLLERS ALLOWED?

Yes, strollers are allowed.

ARE PETS ALLOWED?

No pets are allowed at the event, except for service animals.

IS THERE WHITE STROBE LIGHTING OR FLASHING LIGHTING EFFECTS?

Electric Kingdom is an illuminated experience. Some lighting sequences during the event may include flashing, quick changing, and patterned effects. However, please note that there will be no strobe lighting used.

WILL SMOKE OR HAZE EFFECTS BE USED?

Smoke and haze effects will be used in some areas.

WILL THERE BE A CLOAK ROOM?

As this is an outdoor event, no cloaking facilities are available.
